The Winners of the “İZÜ from Your Perspective” Photography Contest Have Been Announced

The award ceremony of the “İZÜ from Your Perspective: Life and Views on Campus” photography contest held at İZÜ took place in the Nizamülmülk Conference Hall. In the competition, the first prize was awarded to Saliha Talay, second place to Meryem Müberra Vural, and third place to Cemile Cengiz.

The award ceremony of the “İZÜ from Your Perspective: Life and Views on Campus” photography contest, organized by the Corporate Communications and Promotion Directorate, was held in the Nizamülmülk Conference Hall. The program was attended by İZÜ Board of Trustees Chairman Özkan Göksal, Rector Prof. Dr. İsmail Küçük, Vice Rectors Prof. Dr. Erhan İçener and Prof. Dr. Nihat Erdoğmuş, İZÜ Secretary General Dr. Fatih Hasdemir, faculty deans, academic and administrative staff, and students, and awards were presented to the winners.

KÜÇÜK: “SOMETIMES A SINGLE FRAME IS ENOUGH TO EXPRESS EMOTIONS”
In his speech at the award ceremony, Rector Prof. Dr. İsmail Küçük stated that sometimes a single frame is enough to express emotions where words fall short. Noting that they have been organizing the competition regularly for several years, Küçük said, “We have a beautiful campus. We decided to organize these competitions to see how these beauties are perceived through the eyes of young people.” Emphasizing that photography is an effort that requires dedication, Küçük stated that he also enjoys taking photographs and congratulated all participants.

GÖKSAL: “YOUR PHOTOGRAPHS WILL RECORD THE UNIVERSITY’S MEMORY”
İZÜ Board of Trustees Chairman Özkan Göksal, who said, “Amateurs can sometimes produce works far beyond professionals,” also noted that advancing mobile phone technologies have made photo production easier and expressed his wish for an increase in frames documenting İZÜ. Stating that there are many elements on campus to be photographed, Göksal emphasized that photographs taken in all four seasons will create a valuable archive. Expressing that the university is still at the beginning of its development process, Göksal continued his remarks as follows: “We are still a young institution. We continue to develop. The photographs you take will record the transformation our school undergoes. I wish you to continue with the enthusiasm you started with and thank all participants.”

Following the protocol speeches, as a result of the evaluation made by the jury consisting of Prof. Dr. Ahmet Cevat Acar, Prof. Dr. Erhan İçener, Dr. Fatih Hasdemir, Prof. Dr. Mete Çamdereli, Uğur İlgen, and Doğan Erol, a full gold coin was presented to Saliha Talay, who was deemed worthy of the first prize; a half gold coin to Meryem Müberra Vural, who placed second; and a quarter gold coin to Cemile Cengiz, who came third.
