In the statement held in the courtyard of the İZÜ Hafız İhsan and Hacı Şükran Özokur Mosque, attention was drawn to the humanitarian crisis in Gaza. İZÜ Rector Prof. Dr. İsmail Küçük, Vice Rectors Prof. Dr. Erhan İçener and Prof. Dr. Nihat Erdoğmuş, İZÜ Secretary General Dr. Fatih Hasdemir, and academics also supported the students.
KÜÇÜK: “THE MAIN RESPONSIBILITY IS TO DEVELOP OURSELVES”
İZÜ Rector Prof. Dr. İsmail Küçük stated that what is happening in Gaza is not new and expressed that the ummah has not given a successful test in this process. Addressing the youth, Küçük said, “You are coming more resolute, more conscious, and with a stronger voice,” and emphasized that protests and slogans alone are not sufficient. Küçük highlighted the importance of qualified development by stating, “The most important thing you need to do is to improve yourselves starting from your university years, reach the strength and level we need, and equip yourselves with the tools of the enemy.”
THE HUMANITARIAN CRISIS IN GAZA IS DEEPENING
In the press statement, developments in Gaza since October 7, 2023, and the humanitarian situation in Palestine were addressed. It was stated that violations against civilians in Palestinian territories have increased, and it was reminded that Al-Aqsa Mosque had been closed to worship for a long time and that Palestinians’ right to worship had been obstructed. Additionally, attention was drawn to the humanitarian crisis caused by the blockade in Gaza, stating that there are serious difficulties in accessing food, clean water, and healthcare services in the region. The statement concluded with a call to the international community to take responsibility.
