The district final of "Inter-High School Oratory Competition," organized in cooperation with the Istanbul Provincial Directorate of National Education and İlim Yayma Cemiyeti, were held at Istanbul Sabahattin Zaim University.
The Küçükçekmece district finals of the "Inter-High School Oratory Competition," themed "Prof. Dr. Sabahattin Zaim Hoca," and organized for the third time this year, took place in the Abdullah Tivnikli Conference Hall. The program was attended by İZÜ Rector Prof. Dr. Ahmet Cevat Acar, Vice Rector Prof. Dr. Nihat Erdoğmuş, Küçükçekmece District National Education Branch Director Rafet Fener, as well as many teachers and students. Delivering the opening speech, İZÜ Rector Prof. Dr. Ahmet Cevat Acar emphasized the importance of using the Turkish language accurately and effectively. Rector Acar stated, "Our Language holds a vital place in the unity and integrity of Türkiye. In recent years, shortcomings have arisen such as insufficient value being given to our native language due to the focus on foreign language education. Therefore, in order to raise strong and competent individuals, we must also be active in the social sciences and humanities. Developing and using Turkish as a language of education and science is a national duty.”
Küçükçekmece District National Education Branch Director Rafet Fener expressed his satisfaction that the competition was hosted by İZÜ. Fener stated: “We are pleased to hold this competition here today, where we will listen to 20 students from 20 high schools in our district. Since the theme of our competition is our late teacher Sabahattin Zaim, being at the university that bears his name is meaningful for us.”
In their speeches, the participating students discussed the life, ideas, and works of Prof. Dr. Sabahattin Zaim. As aspiring masters of oratory who embrace Zaim Hoca’s legacy, the students showcased their rhetorical skills. The jury members for the competition were İZÜ academics Dr. Merve Ergüt, Dr. Ali Sait Yağar, Dr. Nükte Sevim Derdicok, Dr. Nurbanu Şahin Hatipoğlu, Dr. Necmettin Akay, and Research Assistant Safura İnan.
