The "Material Design in Higher Education" training, organized by the IZU CELT, was held in two sessions on November 13-14, 2025. The first session, delivered by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Elif Sarıcan and completed online, provided a theoretical framework on key topics such as the basic principles of material design, learning barriers, cognitive load theory, effective learning strategies, and common design errors.
In the second session, which was conducted face to face and in a practical format, participants used tools such as NotebookLM, Canva, and ChatGPT to reorganize their course content and develop visual instructional materials. The training contributed to the instructors' understanding of evidence-based design principles and their ability to produce effective materials for their own courses.
