Istanbul Sabahattin Zaim University is hosting a powerful exhibition that highlights the 77-year-long struggle of the Palestinian people marked by exile, resistance, and perseverance. Organized by the Center for Islam and Global Affairs (CIGA), the exhibition coincides with the anniversary of the Nakba (the “Great Catastrophe”), which began in 1948 and continues to this day. It takes visitors on a deeply moving historical journey.
The exhibition opened with the participation of IZU Rector Prof. Dr. Ahmet Cevat Acar and CIGA Director Sami Al-Arian, and features works by Gazan photographer Abdurrahman Kahoot.
Through a compelling display of photographs and documents, the exhibition traces the scars left by forced displacement, destruction, loss, and life in refugee conditions. At the same time, it visually narrates stories of resistance, identity preservation, and the unwavering determination to return. Each photograph serves as a fragment of an ongoing timeline, inviting visitors into a story that stretches from the past into the present.
This visual narrative not only informs, but also calls on viewers to remember, reflect, and bear witness to the Palestinian struggle for freedom. With this exhibition, the university aims to remind us that these events are not just part of history, but a living experience that continues to resonate within the conscience of humanity.
