Prior to the program, the bureaucrats who visited our university gathered at our campus, hosted by IZU Rector Prof. Dr. Ahmet Cevat Acar and Vice Rector Prof. Dr. Erhan İçener. After a breakfast discussion on education and bureaucracy, the seminar moved to Seminar Hall 2 for the “Career Chat with Managers” session.

“SERVING THE STATE AND THE NATION IS OUR GREATEST IDEAL”
In his opening speech, Prof. Dr. Erhan İçener, Vice Rector of IZU, emphasized that bureaucracy is a critical field for students of public administration and political science, saying: “Most of you are young. Among us are students from the Department of political Science and the Faculty of law. As a graduate of the International Relations Department, I would like to say that when we started university, we generally had two career paths in mind. For students of Political Science and Public Administration, one of the most preferred career paths was becoming a district governor or governor, while for students of International Relations, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs was typically the most prominent. In recent years, the National Intelligence Organization (MİT) has also become an area of interest for students. Our friends in the Faculty of Law naturally tend to pursue careers in judgeship and public prosectuion. When we were students, serving the state and the nation was our greatest ideal. Listening to our guests today and benefiting from their experiences will be a valuable gain for all of you.”

“THE GOVERNORSHIP AND DISTRICT GOVERNORSHIP ARE CALLING PROFESSIONS”
After the opening speech, one of the program’s guests, Saffet Arıkan Bedük, President of the Governors’ Association, gave a speech titled “A Career from Local Government to Governorship." Bedük emphasized that public administration is a field that requires responsibility, stating: "The Turkish nation has an important heritage with its deep history and rich culture. At the core of this heritage are the management approach and strong leaders. The elements that ensure the peace, security, and welfare of people are well-functioning management systems. The opportunities provided by our universities and the state are not limited to Turkey alone. By following developments in technology, science, and other areas worldwide and bringing them to our country, we also bear a great responsibility. The most important structure that offers us these opportunities is the state. Governorship and district governorship are calling professions."

Prof. Dr. Selim Çapar, President of the AREM at the Ministry of Interior of the Republic of Turkey, presented a detailed analysis in his speech titled "From District Governorship to Senior Bureaucracy." He provided detailed insights on career planning in state administration and the process of rising in bureaucracy. Prof. Çapar also shared a roadmap for IZU students, outlining the steps they should follow. The event, which allowed students to get a closer look at career opportunities in public administration, concluded with a Q&A session.
