Istanbul Sabahattin Zaim University students gathered to raise awareness against violence towards women. Dressed in black, they carried banners and placards, sending a message of unity. Addressing the students, Vice Rector Prof. İbrahim Güney stated that the increasing instances of violence seen recently have no place in either our faith or our traditions.
During the walk, Prof. Güney joined the students, who displayed photos of women victims of violence on their clothing. He emphasized that we have reached a point where words are no longer enough regarding violence against women, reiterating that such acts are unacceptable. Prof. Güney thanked the students for their sensitivity and commitment to this important cause.
"WOMEN SHOULD FEEL SAFE"
Speaking on behalf of the students, Saide Şeyma Akkol condemned all forms of violence, harassment, and discrimination against women. Akkol expressed that it is everyone's responsibility to stand against violence, stating: "All segments of society should be part of the solution against all forms of violence and discrimination. Women should feel the respect and safety they deserve in all areas of society and be able to live freely and securely. With this aim, we express that we will continue to advocate for women's rights and stand against all forms of violence. As emphasized in the Farewell Sermon of Hz. Muhammad, women are entrusted to you by Allah. We see respecting women's dignity and rights as a duty of humanity."
