In the Thesis Master's programs of our Institute, the thesis supervisors of the students, who have completed the normal study period of four semesters or a maximum study period of six semesters (except for Scientific Preparation, Suspension of Registration, and Additional Time) as of the end of the Fall Semester of the 2023-2024 academic year, are required to submit the word version of the thesis to the Thesis Control Team by the end of working hours on Friday, at the latest, December 22, 2023.
Theses submitted after December 22 , 2023, will not be accepted.
The thesis defense forms of the thesis master’s students who will graduate in the Fall semester must be submitted by the Head of the Department to the Graduate Education Institute by Friday, January 05, 2024. Students in this situation must meet the publication requirement before January 05, 2024.
The thesis master students who will graduate in the Fall semester must take the thesis defense exam by Friday, February 09, 2024.

Requirements for Completion of Master's Thesis
- Students must have at least seven courses and one Seminar course (a total of 60 ECTS) together with a minimum GPA of 2.50 to take the thesis defense exam.
- In accordance with the decision of the IZU Senate dated 18.09.2017 and numbered 2017/21; Students enrolled in the master's and doctoral programs within the Graduate Education Institute as of the spring semester of the 2017-2018 academic year must fulfill the publication requirement. - In the master's program, the thesis stated determined by the student together with the supervisor must be stated in the Campus Information System.
Checking the Compliance of the Master's Thesis with Plagiarism and Thesis Writing Rules
- The primary responsibility for the preparation of the thesis in accordance with the Thesis Writing Guidelines belongs to the student and thesis supervisor. Thesis Control Team members are responsible for formal control of the final drafts of theses.
- The thesis written in accordance with the Thesis Writing Guidelines of the Graduate Education Institute must be sent by the student to the supervisor via e-mail.
- The thesis supervisor must send the student's thesis to the relevant Thesis Control Officers via e-mail. Click here for the e-mail addresses of the Thesis Control Officers.
- Theses that do not comply with the Thesis Writing Guideline and/or those similarity reports exceeding 20% must be corrected and submitted within five days. The Thesis Control Team Members will not control the thesis more than three times. All responsibility in this regard belongs to the thesis supervisor and the student. It must be noted that singular similarities must not exceed 1% in the plagiarism report.
- Supervisors must submit the documents of the master students who will graduate to the Graduate Education Institute via the ÜBYS system.
- External thesis advisors are required to submit the documents of the master students to the Head of the Department.

Maximum Period of Study and Failure
- Students, who are not able to complete their thesis until December 22, 2023, within their normal study period of four semesters and extend their thesis submission to the Spring Semester of the 2023-2024 academic year, are required to pay tuition for one course for the extension period. (No discount will be applied to the tuition fee paid for the extension period.) This situation is valid for the Fall Semester of the 2024-2025 Academic Year, the second extension period.
- Students, who have failed in thesis study or have not been able to take the thesis defense exam within the maximum study period of six semesters, will be dismissed from the University.
According to the 1st and 2nd paragraphs of Article 9 of the IZU Graduate Education and Training Regulations;
(1) The duration of the master's program with thesis is four semesters, starting from the semester in which the courses related to the program enrolled in the program are given, regardless of whether they are registered for each semester, except for the period spent in scientific preparation, and the program is completed in a maximum of six semesters.
(2) The student who has failed to complete credit courses and one Seminar course or has not been able to fulfill the success criteria determined by the University, and who has failed in thesis study or has not been able to take thesis defense exam within the maximum period of study will be disenrolled from the University.
