Sports Careers for the Disabled and Autism Conference at IZU

Organized by the Faculty of Sports Sciences at Istanbul Sabahattin Zaim University, the conference titled "Sports Careers for the Disabled and Autism" was held on Tuesday, November 7, 2023, in the Abdullah Tivnikli conference hall at the Halkalı Campus.

The program began with speeches by Akit Sports Writer and Sports Science Expert Mr. Ahmet GÜLÜMSEYEN, attended by the Dean of the Faculty of Sports Sciences Prof. Dr. Mustafa Zahit SERARSLAN, Vice Dean Dr. Abdusselam KÖSE, academic and administrative staff, and students. Mr. GÜLÜMSEYEN's speech addressed the general issues of individuals with disabilities and the creation of awareness and consciousness towards these individuals. Following his talk, Berkan ERDOĞAN, the Education Coordinator of Anka Special Education and Sports Center, provided information about children with autism, emphasizing the significant impact of sports activities on their education and rehabilitation processes. Mr. ERDOĞAN also mentioned the opportunities for students from the Faculty of Sports Sciences to work at his institution.

Finally, Dr. Abdusselam KÖSE, Vice Dean of the Faculty of Sports Sciences, thanked Mr. Ahmet GÜLÜMSEYEN and Mr. Berkan ERDOĞAN for their participation and proceeded to the Q&A session.

After the conference concluded with the Q&A session, the Dean of the Faculty of Sports Sciences, Prof. Dr. Mustafa Zahit SERARSLAN, Vice Dean Dr. Abdusselam KÖSE, and Dr. İbrahim AKGÜN presented commemorative gifts to Mr. Ahmet GÜLÜMSEYEN, Education Coordinator Mr. Berkan ERDOĞAN, and the teachers and guest students with autism spectrum disorder from Anka Special Education and Sports Center who participated in the conference.
