In this book, in which the essential goals of Islam are explained, the necessity of increase in income and wealth in order to meet the basic needs of the human being and also the fair distribution of this income and wealth are extensively studied. In the work, meeting of material and spiritual needs of the human being in order to sustain economic development in the long term is comparatively examined. It is stated that meeting the basic needs is the fundamental right of human beings and this is considered as makasidu’s-sheria that is the main goals of Islam, in a broad sense, in the Islamic literature. The author also emphasizes that in cases where all these needs are not met, there will be a deviation in human welfare and this eventually will lead to the decline of society and civilization. In his book, the author comparatively discusses these essential goals of Islam and how they will help to the effects and consequences in the development of human welfare.

A great scientist and intellectual, Prof Dr Sabahattin Zaim, who devoted his life to the service of mankind, is known as the pioneer of Islamic economics in Turkey.
