Gathered for Palestine on the Anniversary of the Gaza Occupation
09.10.2024
The Role of Palestine in the Future of the Islamic World was Discussed
The "4th International Palestine Conference," organized by Istanbul Sabahattin Zaim University, brought together world-renowned thinkers, academics, and politicians in Istanbul. Held on the anniversary of the attacks, the conference focused on Palestine's role in shaping the future of the Islamic world.
The Center for Islamic World and Global Relations Application and Research (CIGA) at Istanbul Sabahattin Zaim University organized an important conference on Palestine, which has been subjected to Israeli attacks since October of last year. On the anniversary of the attacks, renowned thinkers, academics, and politicians gathered in Istanbul. The "4th International Palestine Conference" featured the first two days of the program at the Kaya Istanbul Fair and Congress Center, with the final day taking place at Istanbul Sabahattin Zaim University. The role of Palestine in the future of the Islamic world was assessed through discussions on the first day.
World-Famous Thinkers Gathered in Istanbul.
The program, which began with a recitation of the Quran, featured opening speeches by Dr. Abdel Razzaq Maqri, Secretary General of the Kuala Lumpur Forum for Thought and Civilization; Sheikh Hassan Ould Al-Dadou, Vice President of the Kuala Lumpur Forum for Thought and Civilization; Dr. Issam Al-Beşir, Vice President of the International Union of Muslim Scholars; Mehmet Güney, Honorary President of the Human and Civilization Movement; and Prof. Dr. Ahmet Cevat Acar, Rector of Istanbul Sabahattin Zaim University.
"This is a humanitarian issue beyond a religious problem."
Prof. Dr. Ahmet Cevat Acar, Rector of Istanbul Sabahattin Zaim University, stated that a genocide is occurring in Palestine. He noted that Palestinians—children, women, men, the sick, and the elderly—are subjected to horrific massacres. Acar said, "Humanity is watching this genocide live on TV and social media. We have seen once again who controls organizations like the United Nations. Differences in sect, race, language, or tribe should not hinder brotherhood. Our brothers in Gaza have conquered their fear. May Allah accept their martyrdom. Let us also acknowledge the bigger picture. Our brothers continue to suffer oppression in various parts of the world. The so-called civilized West is secularizing to the extent that the Islamic world is unaware. We have observed that not only Islamic countries, but everyone who carries human dignity is trying to offer support. This is a humanitarian issue beyond a religious problem."
"We will liberate Palestine."
Dr. Abdel Razzaq Maqri, Secretary General of the Kuala Lumpur Forum for Thought and Civilization, made significant statements regarding the rising awakening movements and the need for reform around the world. He emphasized that "Israel's oppressive regimes have begun to weaken. The public's objection to Zionism has grown," highlighting the changing political atmosphere. Dr. Maqri stressed the importance of acting in accordance with the thought of Islamic civilization, stating, "We must conduct research collectively. We need to enter a process of self-reflection. To elevate our Ummah, we will move toward common ground. This is how we will liberate Palestine. Palestine is a unifying cause. We are in the final phase of freedom."
"We have freed ourselves from cowardice."
Sheikh Hassan Ould Al-Dadou, Vice President of the Kuala Lumpur Forum for Thought and Civilization, stated that a new resistance movement is emerging today. He noted, "Cowardice has been a burden carried by our Ummah for many years. We have freed ourselves from cowardice. We have started to express our ideas freely. We are in a battle against an open war on Islam. Our mujahideen have sacrificed their lives. Our martyrs have been sacrificed for this storm. We need everyone's support," calling for solidarity.
"They are trying to make us forget the Palestine cause."
Dr. Issam Al-Beşir, Vice President of the International Union of Muslim Scholars, emphasized the importance of social unity and resistance. He stated, "For a long time, there has been fear over the Ummah. Our religion tells us that we must stand against this Zionist entity. It is important for all of us to gather in one place and say no to sectarian wars. We need to unite against challenges. We must be part of the struggle we are waging against the enemy. Our Ummah is facing difficulties. They are trying to make us forget the Palestine cause."
"Their struggle is enlightening the whole world."
Mehmet Güney, Honorary President of the Human and Civilization Movement, expressed support for the brothers resisting for an independent and free Palestine, stating, "Their struggle is enlightening the whole world." He added, "I congratulate my brothers who are resisting for an independent and free Palestine. Their struggle is illuminating the entire world. This congress is a step taken on the path of Palestinian resistance and freedom. I greet all of you who have come to Istanbul from around the world."
"Role of Civil Society: A New Era in the Palestine Struggle."
On the second day of the symposium, the focus will be on the Islamic world's response to the Aksa Deluge. The conference will examine the importance of civil society movements in the Palestinian struggle, with evaluations on Zionism contributed by Dr. Sami Al-Arian and Dr. Mohsen Saleh. The final day of the event will take place in the Abdullah Tivnikli Conference Hall at Istanbul Sabahattin Zaim University, addressing "The Impact of the Gaza Genocide on International and Regional Orders." This topic will be discussed by Dr. Sami Al-Arian, Dr. Berdal Aral, Dr. François Burgat, Mr. Pepe Escobar, Dr. Mohammad Marandi, Dr. Joseph Massad, and Dr. Firoz Osman.
